Cecilie is an English shipping and commodities lawyer based in London.

She specialises in “dry” contractual shipping litigation and helps clients resolve their claims arising from charterparties/bills of lading and commodities/sales contracts, as well as shipbuilding disputes, in an efficient and commercial manner. 

Cecilie’s clients include shipowners, charterers, commodity traders, bunker traders, insurers and P&I Clubs. She regularly represents clients both in arbitration and in English Court proceedings.

Cecilie has advised in relation to claims involving a wide range of cargoes including soyabeans, rice, wheat, sugar, oil, steel, project cargo, fertiliser, fats, minerals and chemicals.

She has also successfully represented the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) in relation to its intervention in the UK Supreme Court proceedings in Halliburton Company v Chubb Bermuda Insurance Ltd [2020] UKSC 48.

Cecilie has spent 6 months working in the Commodities department in the Paris office of an international law firm and spent time on secondment to two International Group P&I Clubs.

Cecilie is also fully fluent in German, French, Norwegian, Czech and Slovak and has a working knowledge of Danish and Swedish. She routinely assists clients in these languages.

Cecilie is a solicitor qualified in England and Wales.
