David has broad experience, gained from working in specialist maritime law firms and the busy claims department of an IG P&I Club in London. He has worked with ship owners, blue-chip charterers and major trading houses amongst others on issues spanning non-contentious work to conducting dispute resolution through arbitration, mediation or the courts.
David’s experience includes conducting high value and complex LMAA arbitrations, successful appeals from arbitration awards, CTL claims under war risk insurance, vessel arrests, obtaining anti-suit injunctions, bunker claims, commodities disputes, cargo claims, advising on issues arising from bills of lading and LOIs, MOA disputes and drafting proforma contracts.
Prior to commencing his legal career David worked in his family’s businesses for a number of years, providing him with a strong commercial perspective.
David is a graduate of Cambridge University where he studied English literature. In his free time he entertains his twin children.
